News > Coaching and Teaching Register - IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Swim England South West has advised that due to the important nature of the Coaching and Teaching Register, failure to have the appropriate DBS checks completed and in place by 10 February 2020 will result in Teachers and Coaches being removed from the Coaching and Teaching Register and the club being notified not to use that Coach or Teacher  in a teaching or coaching role.

Should this be ignored then insurance cover may be invalidated in the event of a claim against the Coach or Teacher. Furthermore, if it comes to light that the Coach or Teacher has continued to operate as a coach or teacher in a club or other environment controlled by Swim England, Swim England reserves the right to take further action.
In addition, all those on the register who are required to be DBS checked are required to have attended an approved safeguarding course within the last three years.
Please note that all clubs undergoing SwimMark full or health check accreditation are required to have all coaches and teachers on the register with complete  and up to date DBS checks and safeguarding training.
