Swim England is seeking two Water Polo Head Coaches for a volunteering opportunity working with the Men and Womens U17 and U19 Squads
- Water Polo Head Coach – U17 & U19 Men x 1
- Water Polo Head Coach – U17 & U19 Women X 1
Location: UK with some international travel
Expected term: September 2021 to September 2024
Remuneration: This is a voluntary role. All reasonable expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with the Swim England expenses policy.
Swim England is the recognised national governing body for swimming in England, helping people learn how to swim, enjoy the water, and compete in our sports of swimming, diving, water polo and synchronised swimming.
Swim England is looking to appoint two Head Coaches on a voluntary basis, one to coach its Water Polo Under 17 & 19 Men’s team and another to coach its Water Polo Under 17 & 19 Women’s team.
The purpose of the two volunteer roles will be to coach the England National team and Great Britain team leading up to European Youth and Junior Championships. You will therefore benefit from forming relationships with Swim England and British Swimming team members.
The role will involve planning, preparing and leading a programme of development for all players to complete for the National team. You will support a programme of development for all Assistant Coaches and other support staff, designed to enhance their knowledge, skills and abilities.
Producing detailed written activity and event reports following competition will also form part of the role as well as communicating with the club and regional coach for each player to manage expectations and ensure accurate and consistent communication in relation to athlete development.
The welfare of athletes is extremely important to Swim England and you will also consider this paramount in the planning, delivery and review of all activities.
Reporting to Swim England's Water Polo Talent Officer this is an exciting opportunity to volunteer alongside the Water Polo Talent team and wider Sport Development team.
Swim England anticipates the level of commitment to the role being one weekend per month usually Saturday – Sunday based in UK. Up to four weekends per year usually Thursday – Sunday based outside the UK.
In addition approximately 6-15 hours per week administration time. Weekly time commitment varies throughout the year dependant on the season, 80% of time 6-10 hours per week and 20% of time 10-15 hours per week.
The successful candidate must have;
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- An in-depth technical understanding of Water Polo and the needs of our sport and players
- Hold a relevant Coaching Qualification
- Must be willing to meet the level of commitment for the role
