Disabled water polo club

Chelmsford Swimming Club has set up the the first disabled water polo club in Britain. It runs every Saturday at Moulsham High School for an hour and is open to all people with any disability above the age of 11.

The idea came after one of Chelmsford Water Polo’s coaches had a serious work accident and saw people with any disability had no route on to water polo or team sport in minor sports in the area.

With the help of Sportessex, Chelmsford Borough Council and Essex ASA funding, and the determination of Essex Inclusive Sporting Enterprise, the club has managed to start with only ASA membership payments needed from the swimmers.

Inclusion sports are fun and played at a standard that suits all and the same applies to the new Dolphins Water Polo Club, where volunteers from Chelmsford Swimming Club coach members of the new club, be it in the shallow end for weaker swimmers or the deep end for the stronger ones.

Anyone interested in joining, or knows of someone who would be, contact Dean Walker on or waterpolo@chelmsfordswimming
