Returning to Pools
The Government publishes guidance which sets out information for the public and sport providers on when you can participate in grassroots sport and physical activity during COVID-19 restrictions, and if so how.
With Coronavirus cases rising rapidly across the country, the Prime Minister has announced a new national lockdown. Please follow the latest Government Guidance on what you can and cannot do during this period.
These restrictions apply to England. Swim England will confirm what any subsequent changes to restrictions will mean for aquatic activity and update its FAQs with its interpretation of what they mean for facilities, how they affects our sports and learn to swim lessons, travel and the impact on clubs. The FAQs will be updated on an ongoing basis where necessary.
When aquatic activity is permitted, Swim England Returning to Pool guidance documents include robust recommendations for operators, casual swimmers, lane swimming, family-fun sessions, club activity, teachers and those attending swimming lessons. These are 'living' documents and cover:
- Club Guidance
- Community Swimming and Instructor Led Guidance
- Operator Guidance
- Swimming Lessons Guidance
- User Guidance
- Specific guidance for water polo clubs (includes guidelines on social distancing during breaks and post-game, use of equipment, advice for match officials and coaches, injury treatment plus information for spectators.)
Any personal or fitness trainer is being reminded to register with a council first if they want to use open spaces for training sessions and include a Covid-19 risk assessment explaining how social distancing will be maintained.
View Hygiene Guidance Resources which will help you clearly communicate key hygiene messages to people taking part in sport and physical activity.
View Swim England COVID-19 Club Support Toolkit.
The FAQs are being updated regularly.

Inter-County Water Polo Competitions 2019
One of the perks of being Regional President and Regional Water Polo Secretary is getting in on the team photo when Dorset fielded a Ladies team in the November tournament at Millfield School. Strike a pose, Mike Coles.
Remember to build a competition network amongst clubs it is important that all clubs and ladies are represented at meetings so that County teams are inclusive.
