News > Swim England 2019 University Water Polo Funding

The Water Polo Development Grants programme is a BUCS and Swim England partner programme designed to support the development of Water Polo in Higher Education, making clubs stronger and more sustainable.

Clubs (based in England) are being encouraged to apply for a grant of £500 to invest in their programme and funding is available to support 24 grants. The deadline for applications is Friday 2 August 2019. A panel will review all applications to determine which will be accepted.

Successful projects will aim to demonstrate how any money received will be invested to sustain and / or increase participation for the club.

Investment may include:
  • Purchase of headwear.
  • Purchase of balls.
  • Purchase of extra pool time for try-out sessions.
  • Access to coaching courses.
  • Promotional activity to raise awareness.

For any university receiving funding there will be a requirement for the recipient programme to provide a breakdown of spend, complete a 500 word case study to illustrate what they have invested in, and to provide one or more high quality images of their programme in action.

A social media campaign will also be created around the programme with a specific hashtag, which you will be asked to engage with, so that the investment from BUCS and Swim England can be amplified across and beyond the sector.
