START Water Polo funding

START Water Polo is a new funding programme designed to give funding to clubs, operators, centres, groups or teams who want to set up or increase the numbers into Stages 8-10 Water Polo lessons or club sessions that deliver the new Water Polo Club Awards 1-3.

Funding is provided to either establish new sessions, improve current sessions or attract new people into existing sessions. Each club or centre is encouraged to apply for funding for whatever costs they feel will allow them to increase numbers and retention of junior players.

How to apply

Download the START Water Polo Programme application form.

Send your completed application form to suzy.stevenson@Swimming.org by Wednesday 27 June 2018.

The application process

Any Swim England club, or any operator who currently deliver or want to deliver Stages 8-10 Water Polo or the Water Polo Club Awards 1-3, is eligible to apply for funding.

There is no limit on the amount of funding that can be applied for. Last year’s successful applicants received between £500 and £1,500. The project needs to be completed by 31 March 2019.

Each project should clearly demonstrate how the funding will be used to increase numbers into classes for the desired Stages.

Applications will be assessed on the level of impact of the project and the potential to attract and retain high numbers of new participants into structured water polo sessions.

Final decisions on funding will be announced on Friday 29 June 2018.

If successful in this first phase, there may be an additional application phase later in the year.

Please feel free to ask any questions and please do forward this on to any of your water polo contacts to encourage as many applications as possible.
